GAWDA Pittsburgh Regional Spring Conference

The 2014 GAWDA Regional conference was held at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in June. It was a very well attended event with a great group of speakers. BUG-O Systems sent 5 people to this event. The conference began on Wednesday afternoon with a Sales workshop put on by Jason Kleid. This was followed by a sporting clays competition and a dinner where Chris Mapes of Lincoln Electric spoke about finding and maintaining good resources for your company and preparing for the future of the industry. On Thursday morning, Bob Ewing of Red Ball Oxygen discussed the importance of chasing the perfect order to better serve your customers. The goal is to get the customer exactly what they ordered in a timely fashion and to serve them in a way that they choose to continue to give their business to you for their future orders.


Scott Kaltrider of Praxair spoke on the importance of looking to cut costs in your business in a slower economy.  When the economy is flat with little growth, the only way to maintain or increase your profit is to look at ways to cut costs and invest in infrastructure improvements to help improve your processes. Jim Earlbeck of Earlbeck Gases and Technology spoke on the role of distributors in the gas and welding market of the future. The market has evolved and the role of distributors in the market is changing. Thought must be given to how to better meet the needs of customers to add value to each sale and on building customer relationships through knowledge and experience. This was followed by lunch and a GAWDA update from Mark Raimy. After lunch was a golf tournament and a reception. Overall the event was very well organized and wonderful chance for networking and learning.
