Tappan Zee Project

Jun. 28, 2013

Bug-O Systems is making history again in 2013, being the brand chosen to weld the Tappan Zee Bridge.  The Tappan Zee Bridge in New York will be welded with the assistance of the Modular Drive System. It is the longest bridge in the State of New York. The total length of the bridge and approaches is 16,013 feet (4,881 m). The cantilever span is 1,212 feet (369 m) providing a maximum clearance of 138 feet (42 m) over the water. On 12, June 2013 the five Supervisors and engineers from Tappan Zee came to Bug-O University in Canonsburg, PA for training, in preparation for the substantial 4 billion dollar project. After welding with the MDS they could not believe how easy it was to control but how precise the machine welds. When it comes to durably and reliability Bug-O automation has always been the brand of choice. As far back as 1943 when production was critical, Bug-O automation equipment was the brand America chose to weld ships during WWII. Some of the same machines back in 1943 are still running today.    Bug-O Systems has always been part of building America, from the San Francisco Bay Bridge to St. Louis Arch project to the Tappan Zee Project. Bug-O Systems and its products can be found on projects all

across the US and in over 150 countries around the world.  Contact me at mshaffer@weld.com for Bug-O University training schedules or contact our sales department at 412-331-1776 for a demo and see how Bug-O Systems can be part of your future.
