Inventor, Teacher, Friend - Anil Rodrigues, PhD

Feb. 02, 2015

It is with deep sorrow we convey the passing of Anil on January 12th 2015, he was 73.

Born in Bombay India, Anil came to America and earned his PhD of Mechanical Engineering at Cornell University.

Anil worked for 34 years in the Engineering Department of Weld Tooling from March 6th, 1978 until he retired on December 31st, 2012.  During his time with us, Anil created many new products and improved technologies. Early on, he transformed the entire product line by developing the first DC Solid State Bug-O’s. The smooth motion of the DC drives far exceeded anything previously produced and is still popular today. With his guidance, the Engineering Department developed the new technology into a wide array of products including programmable shape machines, and encoder controlled position control. One of his greatest achievements was developing and being granted the patent for the Super-Flex track system. Anil’s impression on the Bug-O product line will carry on for many years. He was an inventor, a teacher and a good friend. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family. “Doc” will be missed, but not forgotten.
